HelmetVPN on Windows

There's no separate HelmetVPN desktop app. Instead you install Cisco AnyConnect, a free and widely trusted VPN client, and point it at our servers. It takes about two minutes.

Step by step

  1. Install Cisco AnyConnect

Download Cisco AnyConnect (Cisco Secure Client) from Cisco or the Microsoft Store and run the installer. Accept the defaults; only the VPN module is needed.

  2. Get your HelmetVPN account

If you don't have one yet, install the HelmetVPN app on your phone, sign up, and open Account to see your username, password and server list. You can also contact us to request desktop access.

  3. Open AnyConnect and enter a HelmetVPN server

In the connection box, type the server address from your account, for example:

    us1.helmet.network

    Then click Connect.

  4. Sign in

Enter your HelmetVPN username and password when prompted. Accept the certificate if asked.

  5. Allow the network adapter

Windows may ask to allow AnyConnect to make changes and to install a network adapter. Click Yes.

  6. You're connected

The AnyConnect icon shows a lock when the tunnel is active. To switch countries, disconnect and enter a different server address.

Server addresses

Your full server list is in the HelmetVPN app under Account. Common regions:

RegionServer address
United Statesus1.helmet.network
Germanyde1.helmet.network
United Kingdomuk1.helmet.network
Netherlandsnl1.helmet.network
Turkeytr1.helmet.network

Server addresses can change. If one doesn't connect, check the app for the current list or get in touch.

Troubleshooting

  • "Login failed": double-check your username and password in the mobile app. Passwords are case sensitive.
  • "Connection attempt has failed": your network may be blocking the server. Try a different server address or a different network.
  • Slow speeds: choose the server closest to you, or the closest to the content you're accessing.
  • Certificate warning: this can appear on first connection. Click Connect anyway if the server address matches the one from your account.
