Helmet Network dVPN

Our mission on Helmet Network is maximum privacy coverage, secure internet access and a fairer internet for everyone. The decentralized VPN is how we get there.

We are building the next generation of VPNs: the decentralized VPN, or dVPN. A dVPN doesn't run on a centrally controlled network of servers. It relies on independent nodes and cryptography to secure the connection. With the Helmet Network dVPN data structure you can surf, unblock and stream any content anonymously, wherever you are.

How it works

Helmet Network dVPN provides a secure internet connection run by a network of nodes. Under the hood it is built on blockchain technology: a series of blocks that record data as timestamped hash functions, so the data cannot be changed or tampered with. By eliminating the centralized points that are usually the target of cyberattacks, the network has no single server to compromise. Nodes are selected at random and all data is encrypted before it travels.

  1. You connect

The client app encrypts your traffic on your device before anything leaves it.

  2. Nodes are picked at random

Your traffic is routed through community-run nodes chosen by the protocol, not by us.

  3. Nodes get paid

Every node that helps carry traffic earns for the bandwidth it provides, which keeps the network powered and safe.

  4. You reach the open internet

No central server, no single point of failure, no one who can see the whole picture.

Helmet Network dVPN vs. Tor

Tor and Helmet Network dVPN share the same goal but take different technical approaches. Two differences matter most:

Become a node

Early adopters start here. Contribute to the next-generation internet before the wave of users hits Web3. Your node helps power the HelmetVPN decentralized network, so you and everyone else can privately browse and access content from around the globe.

Node onboarding opens with the first P2P protocol release. Install the client app now and you'll be notified by push notification as soon as it launches.

Frequently asked questions

What is Helmet Network?

Helmet Network is the decentralized VPN protocol behind HelmetVPN. It makes the internet borderless, accessible and safe by routing traffic through a community of paid, randomly selected nodes instead of central servers.

What fees do node runners pay?

Node runners don't pay to join. They earn for the bandwidth they provide. Exact reward and fee structures will be published with the first P2P protocol release.

Can nodes see my traffic?

No. Your traffic is encrypted on your device before it reaches any node, and nodes are chosen at random. No single node can see who you are and what you're accessing at the same time.

Is the dVPN available today?

It's in beta. The MenaVPN client app is live today with a traditional server network. When the first Helmet Network protocol launches, the app will notify you and switch you over.
